Dwayne Wessel has extensive experience working with children afflicted with Autism Spectrum Disorder (ASD). Dwayne has a Masters in Education (Special Education, autism endorsement). His Master`s thesis studied the implementation of math strategies for non-verbal students with ASD. He is currently working on his Ph.D. in Education studying cognition and learning. He holds teacher certification in both Ontario and Michigan, has been a classroom teacher and is currently employed as a Teacher Consultant for students with ASD ages 3-26 in Michigan.

Dwayne is a certified instructor of non-violent crisis intervention and was invited to critique the Crisis Prevention Institute's first certification program specifically designed for the needs of students with ASD. He is also a positive behavior support trainer/coach through Grand Valley State University and the Michigan Department of Education.

Dwayne has been a guest lecturer at Wayne State University, Oakland University, and the University of Windsor, and has delivered training for the Autism Consultants of Hamilton Health Sciences and Pathways for Children and Youth, Kingston, as well as local chapters of Autism Societies and Community Living Associations in Ontario.  He is currently a sessional instructor for the University of Windsor teaching psychology classes in behaviour change and another in developmental disabilities.

You may recognize Dwayne as he was recently a consultant for ABC Television and appeared on the show Extreme Makeover, Home Edition assisting updating a student's home in Royal Oak, Michigan.
